All Camp Students are given proper direction in English style riding by seasoned equestrian professionals.
All beginner riders will have a personal helper while in the saddle, plus their main instructor. We focus on exercises to improve balance and coordination, which helps them become independent as a rider. In addition to riding, campers learn horsemanship and what it means to care for a horse.
For those more advanced students, we will expand upon their current skills, both in the saddle and as young horsemen/women. This may include jumping for our current students; to inquire regarding lessons or our US Pony Club, please click the Contact Us button.
RIDING INSTRUCTION
Our days are structured for optimal exposure to the horses and ponies, while assuring the campers understand the safety protocols. As a competitive barn, we will assure your child receives a solid foundation in proper riding technique in a fun and creative environment. Some examples of what they will learn.
Basic Horsemanship: leading, grooming and tacking-up of their horse or pony.
Barn safety and basic horse health management.
Horse behavior: how to understand what your horse is saying.
Proper mounting and dismounting.
How to hold the reins and sit on a horse properly.
Progressing to two point and learning to post the trot.
Obstacle practice and bareback day
(Bareback–if camper wants to)
They will also learn different riding disciplines, breeds, colors and parts of the horse.
More advanced groups, that can include jumping, are available to qualifying riders. Inquire regarding an assessment lesson for this advanced placing.
