For a more than a decade, California Riding Academy has been welcoming children and providing them with fantastic horse memories to last a lifetime! We welcome children ages 5-15 to enjoy an intensive exposure to all things horse-related in a fun, safe environment.

Come check out our new location in Pacifica, including our amazing Clubhouse, which is available for events and parties!  To inquire about a tour of our facility and rental options, just click the Contact Us button below.

In addition to riding, campers learn horsemanship and practice exercises to improve balance and coordination. We divide campers by age and experience, although new riders are encouraged, into small groups to provide greater individual attention. Holiday camps, held throughout the year to coincide with school breaks, are based on the same curriculum and are offered Thanksgiving, December Holiday and Winter/Spring breaks.

Please note: return students or students with more advanced skills will be identified and instructed according to our assessment of their level and comfort.

Our days are structured for optimal exposure to the horses and ponies, while assuring the campers understand the safety protocols. As a competitive barn, we will assure your child receives a solid foundation in proper riding technique in a fun and creative environment. Some examples of what they will learn.
Basic Horsemanship: leading, grooming and tacking-up of their horse or pony.
Barn safety and basic horse health management.
Horse behavior: how to understand what your horse is saying.
Proper mounting and dismounting.
How to hold the reins and sit on a horse properly.
Progressing to two point and learning to post the trot.
Obstacle practice and bareback day
(Bareback–only if student is interested)

They will also learn different riding disciplines, breeds, colors and parts of the horse.

More advanced groups, that can include jumping, are available to qualifying riders

While each camper enjoys a minimum of one riding lesson every day, including an invitation to parents to see their child at the “Show Off Friday Horse Show,” your child’s camp experience can be upgraded to include MORE riding, horsemanship and fun!
