California Riding Academy is excited to offer Pony Club programming. Weekly meetings are held Saturdays from 1pm-4pm and will include horsemanship seminars and mounted lessons. Students will prepare for written and mounted tests that prepare them for a lifetime of riding. Standards must be met to achieve USPC certifications, which is recognized internationally.
About United States Pony Club (USPC)
The United States Pony Clubs, Inc. started in 1954 to teach riding and the proper care of horses. It is based on The British Pony Club, which was created in 1929 as a junior branch of the Institute of the Horse. Since then, Pony Club has expanded to many countries around the world, with the main goal being to promote sportsmanship, stewardship and leadership through horsemanship.
Back in 1929, the term pony” was used to describe the mount of a youth equestrian. With a name steeped in the tradition of educating the next generation of equestrians, the name Pony Club continues to focus on education and quality care of both horses and ponies.
In the last decade, Pony Club has strengthened programming to meet the needs of today’s equestrians. This has included, raising the age of graduation from 21 to 25 for traditional youth members, offering Pony Club through an established riding center, expanding certifications to include the disciplines of Dressage and Show Jumping, bringing in Western disciplines, offering adult Horsemasters membership opportunities and including land conservation in the Standards of Proficiency.
Youth Membership: For everyone up to 25 years of age who wishes to participate in local USPC meetings.
Horsemasters Membership: For students over 18 who would like to begin or continue their journey through Pony Club. Education is based on the traditional Standards of Proficiency and allows adults to continue their educational goals in a structured atmosphere.
Membership to USPC at California Riding Academy is $1,250 for spring and fall programs. Payment for members signing up during the program season will be prorated.
